2011 Jewellery Trends

2011 more than any other year of late is set to be a 12 month flurry of chunky motif jewellery and bold new pieces. So what’s hot for the season and what should you wrap up in velvet and store in a safe place until next year? Read on to find out about the double rings worn by the social elite and why it’s OK to clash:

  • Motif jewellery- You know what we are talking about, those intricately designed silver pieces and bangles and rings that incorporate traditional motifs with leopard print and floral designs. Don’t be afraid to mix and match to create your own unique look. Look to the catwalks to find out if you can overdo this and the answer is a resounding ‘no.’ Go for your life.
  • Wear it square- Square bangles are back in fashion this year and a must have accessory for every fashionista. What’s great about a large square bangle is that it goes with just about anything and looks great in the winter months to accessorise an over-sized sweater and great in summer to dress up your favourite maxi dress. Don’t limit yourself to a particular metal or material either. Mix and match gold, silver, wooden and resin to create your own unique style. This year the look is layered so the more you can stack on the better!
  • Layered necklaces- For a while there the fine and dainty ruled the necklace roost but chunky layered necklaces are back this year. Thick layered rope pieces are in full bloom overshadowing any outfit.
  • Tribal inspired jewellery and accessories- Fringed jewellery and accessories are very much in this season as well as geometric tribal prints. Cuffs compliment the tribal look and large silver or gold earrings featuring loads of detail will set off any outfit effortlessly.
  • The double ring- For a while now these have been making an appearance and have simply become more and more popular. Adjoining two fingers next to one another is the new bling ring look. You can get some great designs with these too. If you aren’t so daring or prefer being able to splay your fingers from time to time, you may want to consider indulging in the layering trend of wearing multiple rings on a number of fingers at once. Is this semi-grunge look hard to pull off? No. Diamond rings look good any way your wear them.
  • Vintage- As usual, there is still a place this year for the much loved vintage and vintage inspired jewellery pieces. Keeping it bold and front and centre is the only rule here.

There are loads of great trends this season perfect for accessorising your look throughout the year. Jewellery is such an important element in making every woman’s look complete. I hope our list of this years hottest trends has given you some inspiration of some great jewellery buys to seek out to keep you looking fab and on trend this season and beyond.
